Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 1,800 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the most recent Express Entry draw, targeting candidates in trade occupations. The draw, which required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 433, marks the first trade-focused, category-based draw since July 4, when the same number of ITAs were issued, requiring a minimum score of 436.

This is also the first non-French proficiency category-based draw since July 5. The October 23 draw was the third Express Entry draw of the week. On October 22, IRCC invited 400 candidates from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) with a minimum CRS score of 539, while on October 21, 648 candidates were invited under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) with a minimum score of 791.

IRCC has recently adopted a pattern of holding multiple Express Entry draws every second week, including draws focused on PNP and CEC candidates. This approach aligns with the department’s strategy to increase domestic draws, targeting candidates already living and working in Canada.

The next Immigration Levels Plan, expected to be released by November 1, will outline admission targets for 2025-2027. In 2024, the target for new permanent residents through Express Entry is set at 110,770. Individuals who receive ITAs in the second half of 2024 are expected to be admitted in 2025, following the six-month processing standard for Express Entry applications.
